How We Test & Tag

At Test and Tag Rotorua, we recommend.

Regular inspections of your electrical equipment should be part of your Hazard assessment.

In the First part of Testing & Tagging, we do a thorough visual inspection to detect damaged cords, plugs or cracked insulation. Second, according to their requirements, we undertake the following tests with a (PAT) Portable Appliance Tester. 

  • Earth continuity test – for Class I equipment, cord extension sets and RCDs.
  • Insulation test, leakage test on both Class I and Class II equipment, as well as cord extension sets, multi boxes and RCDs.
  • Polarity test – for cord extensions sets and multi boxes.
  • Trip time test – for RCDs .
  • Touch Leakage test – for Class I equipment.
  • Differential Leakage test – Class II equipment.

Printable Tags

All tested items that have passed the tests get a new tag Printed and installed with the following information: 

  • Tested to AS/NZS 3760:2022, 
  • Date Tested, 
  • Retest Date
  • Test Status = Pass/Fail
  • ID # 
  • Our Company Logo
  • A Unique QR Code containing test data

Failed Appliances

Any failed appliance is clearly labelled as “FAILED” and withdrawn from service. 

  • “Failed” appliances are given to the Owner/Manager to either be Repaired or Disposed of at their discretion.
  • After each job, we supply our customers with a comprehensive report that includes test results and a re-test schedule.

At Test and Tag Rotorua, We do not carry out repairs on Failed equipment. Therefore, we have no hidden agenda in failing your equipment to gain further business.
